30.06.13

This week i really just gave myself the week off, ive been feeling increasingly under the weather and sleep has eluded me like never before, however I still squeezed in a bit of work here and there...
Firstly, I started posting LPs (Let's Play) to my heavily underused YouTube channel, which you can check out here: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheDblTap

I also started on and completed a script for a short comic which I hope will help me get some more comic-based comission work. For this, I have created 2 concept images, one of which isn't complete yet:

Thanks for checking my work out :)

23.06.13

okay, so its sunday and its 6 o'clock (more-or-less) so I'm going to fill you in on what ive managed this week...
This week I havent done any C# or 3D at all, unfortunately, but I've done quite a bit in other areas...

Firstly, Monday was spent doing this:

An illustration of my favourite Pokémon, Scollipede. I'm very pleased with how this turned out.

Now, last week my friend and I had an idea which really fabricated something I've been considering for a while. Now, as I'm prone to changing my mind a hell of a lot, I wont tell you what it is until I start doing it. But I'll show you the 3 animations I've made for use when I begin it...

In the first one, I have animated my friend's signature animal in relation to his Logo which features a wolf:

The second one, which took much longer and a lot more research, is my signature stag, from my logo, of course. You will have seen this gold-antlered albino stag in a lot of places on my blog:

And the last of these, utilizes the stag animation. Again, I won't say what this is for but I'm sure a few of you can guess...

Okay, that is this week's blog update, I'll try get some more C# and 3D done next week, since I don't have a right lot more I can do on this secret project just yet...

** EDIT ** Oh my, I forgot to mention... I REACHED 6,000 VIEWS :D My blog, now, gets between 30-40 views a day and on some days as many as 50-70... Which to me is quite a big number considering when I started I got 1-8 views a day! So thank you all who come here and read my drivel, ESPECIALLY those who come regularly, it means a whole lot more to me than you think :)

16.06.13

looks like it's that time again! I considered skipping today's, or at least putting it off until later tonight to spend time with my dad for fathers day, but he's buggered off to see his squeeze, so I'm on my bill, writing blog posts, haha.

Right, as usual, nothing in terms of C# to show you, and as a matter of fact I don't think I've done any C# this week, been kind of distracted...
Same goes for 3D, I really just spent a lot of time touching up polygons and stuff on the fused-together model of that girl, not really enough to warrant showing you guys. And I also made just a couple of new designs in Photoshop, one being a commission for a friend who REALLY likes Bidoof (if you want anything like this doing, don't hesitate to ask, I do charge a commission fee though).

And the other thing I did was just a practice with a new way of doing my lineart, I've started image tracing my lineart in illustrator as it makes it smoother, as this was really just a test I haven't really put a lot of effort into the colouring and shading aspects:

Thats all I've got this week though, I'm not feeling particularly great at the moment and dont really have much motivation this week, and I've also been kind of distracted. It's hard to keep motivated when your projects are non-profit and for yourself, but when it's a paid commission it's easier to get enrapt.

Thanks for reading :)

09.06.13

This week I have accomplished quite a few things in comparison with the amount I have accomplished in earlier weeks. It seems I am getting my motivation back and actually getting somewhere with my work :)

Firstly, as ever, so far, I am yet to actually produce something of value with my C# training which I can show you to demonstrate what I have learned.

Secondly, I have finally completed the rather LARGE image I have been working on this past 2 weeks. I have spent a fair amount of time attempting to produce this, and while it is finally complete and I have received some positive feedback from all who have seen it, I am greatly disappointed in the final piece. Here, I shall share it with you:

Affectionately entitled 'Battle of the Gods' this piece features a dogfight of the following: The Pillar of Autumn (Halo), The SSV Normandy SR2 (Mass Effect), The Starship Enterprise (Star Trek), The Death Star (Star Wars), Samus Aran's Ship (Metroid Prime), Bowser's Airship (Various MArio Games), The TARDIS (Dr Who), The Millenium Falcon (Star Wars), Charizard (Pokémon), A Cylon Fighter Vessel (BattleStar Gallactica), Iron Man Mk 42 (Iron Man 3), Winged Nazgul (Lord Of The Rings), F22 Raptor Fighter Jet (Real Life), Dalek (Dr. Who), Arwing (Star Fox), Tie Fighter (Star Wars), Hurrican Mk II (historical fighter plane), Alduin (Skyrim) and the S.H.I.E.L.D Helicarrier (Marvel Universe, namely, the Avengers Assemble movie). This seemed a good idea nad I had high hopes for it, but I kind of expected more from myself...

Upon completion of this, I went on to create this image of a Snowy Owl within a few hours:

Nothing much to say about this really, just felt like it if I'm perfectly honest...

And lastly, where I've made possibly, the most progress this week is in 3D modelling. As for the girl I've been working on, she now has a head and that head now has ears:

That damned line on her stomach is becoming more and more of a thorn in my side... But It's coming along, so there you go...
That's not all I've done in terms of 3D this week though, oh no...
I have been playing the new mystery dungeon Pokémon game for 3DS and liked the new 3D models, with their simple shape and texture. Seeing this, I figured maybe I could pull it off... So I decided to make a 'simple' 3D model of a Stag (my logo, incase you havent noticed) in the same style... Although I havent learnt a thing about texturing yet, so expect horrific scenes...
When I finally got the model completed late last night, I was listening to Stephen Fry reading the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and decided to try and make my Stag look like a Patronus. And succeeded, I like this a great deal:

Ahaha, it looks kind of like a patronus, and kind of like my Stag is evolving... Anyway, today I decided to use my recreational time taking a serious approach with texturing it and seeing how I could do... I did terribly, horrifically so... So you can expect me to re-texture this when I figure all this lot out, hahaha.

I opened it in Photoshop and tried simply drawing the texture on... As you can tell I tried to keep the style of Mystery dungeon, with the eyes and simple textures, although I could have done with a smoother shader... To give the model the same matte smooth look as in the game... But, like I said, I'm inexperienced so far and still trying to get my head around things... also, excuse his face, as somebody told me 'he looks like he's pooing'...

Anyway, that's yer fill for this week! See you next week with hopefully more exciting things :)

EDIT: I just animated that Patronus thing, added some billowing smoke around it, it's kind of eerie... Shame it didn't render as sharp as I would have liked...

02.06.13

Well, it's 6PM on sunday again, which means it's time to share the week's endeavours with the internet... Not very much to show you this week, I've started on the head for my 3D model, which I will show you now...

It's coming along quite well and I had quite a bit of fun making it!

As far as artwork goes, I haven't done nothing, I've done quite a lot actually, it's just a REALLY big piece and isn't finished, so I probably won't have anything to show you until next Sunday, so look out for that.

And, once again, there's nothing I can really show you in terms of C# skill development at the moment, but I have learnt quite a bit this week!

Thanks for reading, see you next Sunday :)
